HOBBY HORSE PRINT. MODERN PEGASUS or Dandy Hobbies in full Speed. My personal favorite. Hand colored etching published March 24th, 1819 by TEGG. Size is 14" x 10". There were about 80 different Hobby Horse (and Draisienne) prints published from 1817 to 1820 in various countries such as England, Germany, France and Ireland. The first English Hobby Horse print was published in Ackermann's Repository of Arts for Feb. 1st, 1819. The Ackermann illustration was a serious rendering of the Hobby Horse. It was not long until the "cartoon" style prints took over the market exacerbating the demise of the Hobby Horse. SHIELDS COLLECTION.
