Many other firms in the bike industry sent their congratulations to Columbia in adverts within this issue. Here is a brief timeline: Columbia started as the Pope Mfg. Co. in Hartford, CT. Torrington Co acquired the company in 1933 and changed the name to The Westfield Mfg. Co. Norman A. Clark (and his newly formed corporation) acquired the company in 1969; the name was changed to Columbia Mfg. Co. MTD Products Inc of OH acquired the company in 1967. |
