In 1879 Alfred D. Chandler, president of the Suffolk Bicycle Club and Club Captain, John C. Sharp Jr. made a bicycle tour or England and Wales; as a result of their tour this book was published in 1881 by A.Williams and Co. of Boston and Crosby Lockwood and Co. of London. The book, 167 pages, has an appendix giving information on the use of the bicycle, both in Europe and the United States. It contains 4 detailed large fold-out maps and 17 illustrations. An interesting part of the appendix is the text; 'Four years ago, in the early part of 1877, the only bicycle agent in America was Colonel T.W.Lawford, the British Vice-Consul at Baltimore. Now in May, 1881, bicycles may be obtained of the following persons, among others, in the United States, from Maine to California, and from Minnesota to Texas'. . . (there are nine pages listing cities in alphabetical order, with the states, containing the names of bicycle resellers). The dimensions are 5 x 6 7/8 inches and it is in mint condition (an original copy, not a reprint).
