Emil Kirwin began his career in the bicycle industry at the young age of 15 when he began employment in the shipping department of the D.P. Harris Hardware & Manufacturing Co in New York in the year 1913. This image of Emil was gleaned from an article which appears on page-82 of the March 1972 issue of American Bicyclist magazine. The article describes Emil`s fantastic growth and contributions to his company and the bicycle industry worldwide. The entire article can be seen in the picture gallery. The company honored Emil`s 59 consecutive years of service,  accomplishments and retirement at a gala luncheon held in January 1972. I recall my parents speaking about Emil Kirwin in the 1950s; they held him in high regard for his astute business skills and friendly business mannerisms. His wife was Goldie Burros Kirwin.
