| | Since Howie Cohen's passing, no items are for sale. | | AVAILABLE TO SELL, I HAVE A DUPLICATE! This is a 1 3/8 x 2 inch box of stick matches with a reproduction (reduced size) of a poster advertising FONGERS Rywielen Eenigi Bicycles. The artist of this c.1915 poster was Runckel. Mr. Fongers started making bicycles in 1880 in the City of Groningen. In 1896 he established his factory as a limited company. Although the factory in Groningen closed in 1970, the bicycle is still sold as a sub brand of Batavus bicycles (who bought the company that bought Fongers). Batavus is now part of the Accell Group, a bicycle conglomerate quoted on the Dutch stock market. The reverse side of the box has a reduced size poster reproduction advertisement for Victoria Bicycles. There are matches in this box which was made in Spain. See the picture gallery. |
