AVAILABLE TO SELL, I HAVE A FEW DUPLICATES! This is the medallion (aka badge or nameplate) of La Madonna del Ghisallo. She is the Patroness Saint of Cyclists as was confirmed by Pope Pius XII. The medallion is meant to be a good luck charm for the owner when the medallion is attached to his/her bike. The medallion is supplied complete with fasteners (bolt & nut) and there are two sets of mounting holes so it can be mounted onto various locations of the bike (frame tube, handlebar, handlebar stem, seat post, etc.) Tape can be wrapped around the mounting location to prevent scratching and/or for use as a shim. The image in the center of the badge is of La Madonna with child Jesus; they are surrounded by a bicycle chainring and chain. The text below La Madonna is: LA MADONNA TI PROTEGGA (translated is The Madonna will protect you). The image on the left side is text: RICORDO SANTUARIO DEL GHISALLO. The image on the right side is of the actual Sanctuary which is located in the mountains of Italy, north of Milano, near Lake Como in the town of Magreglio. The Sanctuary walls are lined with a lovely display of bicycles, photographs and other bicycle racing memorabilia of famous cyclists of years gone by. The picture shown here of the center-section of the medallion was taken without a flash by Chris Setter; he is a very talented photographer. This badge is mounted onto a mountain bike handlebar stem. A little history; I have visited the church on two occasions, it is a very worthwhile place to visit. Inside the Church there is a display of several bicycles, jerseys, trophies, photographs, etc. from various famous Italian racers. The top window of the steeple has a bronze art of a bicycle frame & wheel hanging outside.
The cost has recently increased due to a price increase from the factory. The flat-rate S/H cost for the medallion(s) [from one or up to four in the same envelope] is $11.45 to a USA address or $14.45 to an international address. I will adjust the invoice amount when I send you the invoice.
