EXCELSIOR 1930s-1940s Lady`s 26-inch Balloon Tire bike
Although the badge states MF`D BY EXCELSIOR MFG CO MICHIGAN CITY, IND I was told that it appears to be a bike produced by D.P. Harris in the late 1930s or early 1940s for Excelsior. The owner mentioned that the bike is all original but I suppose the tires have been changed and the rear carrier added on as an accessory. It appears to be in very good original condition. This bike is available for sale as of June 2013; if you are interested send me an email and I will put the owner in contact with you so you two can work out the details. See the picture gallery.

Falcon Replica Ordinary c.1961-Luke DeNitto of Anaheim, CA
Falcon high wheel bicycle (Penny Farthing) belonging to Luke DeNitto of So-Cal in September-2010. Luke acquired this bike from fellow collector Erick Elsewood of So-Cal. This photo was taken on the day that Luke picked-up the bike at Erick`s home. This high wheeler was produced in the early 1960`s by Falcon Cycles (aka Coventry Eagle Cycle Co., Ltd.) of Birmingham, England. At the time, Falcon was owned by Mr. A. Douglas Mayo and the factory was managed by Ernie Clements. Falcon produced only one of these Ordinaries to use as an eye-catcher in their booth at the Earls Court International Cycle Show which was held in London in 1960 or 1961. Howie`s father, Leo Cohen Sr. saw this lovely replica and immediately decided to purchase 100 of them for distribution in America. Howie`s uncle (Manny Giffis) was with Leo and he also purchased some for his Wheel Goods Corp., a bicycle distributor & retailer in Mpls., MN. The rims for this replica were produced by Weinmann of Switzerland as a special favor for Falcon. The bikes were fully assembled in England at the Falcon factory and packed seven (7) in a huge wood case. Howie & other WCC staff unloaded the crates from the trucks and carefully unpacked (then individually repacked) the bikes for shipment to bicycle dealers throughout the USA. See the picture gallery for additional photos and history about these bikes. The color is flamboyant bronze which was one of the popular colors of the Falcon San Remo model racing bikes. [FalconHiWL-1961.01]
