This photo #53-6 is from the Quinn`s Bicycle Journal & Bicycle Business Journal magazine archives. The photo was taken at the Bicycle Institute of America (B.I.A.) Convention which was held at the Boca Hotel & Resort in Boca Raton, FL. My guess is that this photo is from the early 1960s. Shown are L-R: M/M Bill & Jane Hannon (Murray Ohio Mfg Co. president) and Vic Schreckengost (Murray Ohio Mfg Co. head of design). [Hannon, Bill]
In the 1960`s and 1970`s Miyata was one of the major bicycle producers in Japan. They produced high quality bicycles for the domestic market and for export (including America). I visited the Miyata factory in the early 1960`s during my quest to find a Japanese bicycle maker to produce our American Eagle brand bicycles. Acquired by Matsushita Electric (Panasonic & National). Hideo Miyata in 1995. Displayed at the 2004 Japan International Cycle Show in Tokyo. See many of the Miyata catalogs at www.miyatacatalogs.com presented by Herman Burgos. See the picture gallery. Additional text & photos pending. [Miyata Ind. Co.]
