Six-Day Int`l Race - 1936 Nov-29 to Dec-5, at Madison Square Garden-PROGRAM
A VERY GOOD REPRODUCTION IS AVAILABLE TO SELL; I HAD IT REPRODUCED AT A PROFESSIONAL PRINTING CO.
A 52-page (including the covers) large format Program for the 61st International 6-Day Race held in New York at the Madison Square Garden from November-29 to December-5 1936. The event was sanctioned by The National Cycling Association. The dimensions of the program are 8 1/4 x 10 7/8 inches.
Thirty (30) well known international professional racers are illustrated with a short bio of each. The names read like a WHO`s WHO from the history of cycling archives; Jimmy Walthour Jr.-USA, Al Crossley Jr.-USA, Gustav Killian-Germany, Heinz Vopel-Germany, Guiseppe Olmo-Italy, Emile Ignat-France, Franco Georgetti-Italy, Gerard Debaets-Belgium, William `Torchy` Peden-USA, Bobby Thomas-USA, Alfred Letourner-France, Marcel Guimbretiere-France, Jules Audy-Canada, Norman Hill-USA, Cecil `Rabbit` Yates-USA, Jerome `Jerry` Rodman-USA, Louis Cohen-USA, Henry `Cocky` O`Brien-USA, Tino Reboli-USA, George Shipman-USA, Alvaro Georgetti-Italy, Charley Yaccino-USA, Charles Winter-USA, Eddie Miller-USA and several others (see page-21 for a complete list of the competitors).
The list of officials is another group of famous cycling personalities including; Frank L. Kramer, Arthur W. Ross, Nat Butler, Iver Lawson, Patrick Mulvey, Thomas Lynch, Joseph Grimm, Dan Caprio, L.A. Fraysse, Frank Small, George Scofield, Emile E. Fraysse and many more (see page-7).
The program contains articles about bike racing in the day, and the history of 6-day racing. Records for past races from 1900 through 1936 are listed. This is enjoyable reading and an important piece of research material. The original Program is from the Bill Bina Collection. [1936 6-Day.MSG]
