1953 Hercules Cycles - Greetings to Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh
This poster was produced in 1953 commomorating coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The bicycle illustrated is a ladies sport model with internal hub gears, fenders and a large touring bag. The dimensions are 23 x 17 inches. A little history; Leo Sr. (Howie`s dad) became the west coast exclusive distributor of Hercules bicycles in the mid 1950`s during the boom for lightweight bikes including derailleur geared models. AMF (American Machine and Foundry) was the exclusive USA agent for the brand. Len Wilson was president of AMF and Joe Turkel was president of the Hercules division. WCCSC distributed many models of Hercules to the dealers on the western states. [Poster-H.350]
This is a reproduction of one of the large posters from the late 1890s or early 1900s. The dimensions are 24 x 32 inches. The image is of a charming lady with her elbows on the handlebar of a Humber Safety. The locations of the French agent in Paris is given as is the Factory in Coventry, England. [Poster-H.901B]
