Rapido Bicycles from Czechoslovakia, represented by American Jawa
Rapido brand bicycles were imported into America by American Jawa, Ltd. Howie`s father purchased some of these in the 1950`s when we had the retail store. I don`t think that the Rapido bikes were produced in the same factory as the Favorit brand bikes. This image is of an advertisement in the April 1972 issue of the American Bicyclist magazine. Schauff Bicycles from Germany
The Schauff family business of manufacturing bicycles began in 1932 when Hans Schauff Sr. started brazing bicycle frames. Hans Schauff Jr. (pictured here with his wife, Ute, & their two sons) took over the management of the company as a young man. He and Ute have been associated with Howie since the 1970`s. And now their two sons, Axle and Jan have taken an active role in the company. See their line of bicycles and learn more about their history on their web site http://www.schauff.de/
The Schauff family are wonderful and dependable folks with whom to do business. Posing with a Soil brand track bike are: Hans Jr (front center), his charming wife Ute (on the right behind Hans), and their two sons, Axle (rear center) and Jan (on the far left). [Schauff]
