Mr. Iga owned this bicycle factory. They produced two models of Azuki bicycles for WCC. The bicycles were exported by Nissho Iwai using their quota. Iga-san was a very happy individual. See the picture gallery for a snip of the many Schwinn employees that helped to make this the most admired and respected bicycle company in America for many decades during the 20th Century. Skyway Bicycles Distributed by C.Itoh and Co of New York |

There have been two different companies selling SKYWAY brand bicycles; (1) C.Itoh & Co of New York, a subsidiary of the huge Japanese company bearing the same name, and (2) Skyway Machine of Redding, CA. This posting is of the C.Itoh Skyway brand bicycles which were produced by Bridgestone in Japan. This image is an advertisement published in the January 1964 issue of the American Bicyclist magazine. Itoh later dropped the Skyway brand and replaced it with the Kabuki brand. [Skyway-C.Itoh]

Unidentified Actress with a `Norman` Bicycle - c.1940`s |

Unidentified actress at Columbia Studios posing with a British NORMAN brand single speed (freewheel) bicycle. There is a license on the seat stay tubes of the bike. Norman Cycles of Ashford, Kent was founded in the 1920`s by brothers Charles & Fred Norman. The company was acquired by Tube Investments (the Raleigh Group) in the 1950`s and closed in the early 1960`s. If you can identify the actress please contact me.
