Founded in 1887 by Colonel Albert Augustus Pope in Hartford, CT. Pope was born May 20, 1843. He served in the United States Union Army and after the war between the north & south, he started the small factory to produce various patented items. Additional text & pictures pending. Ranger brand bicycles were originally sold by The Mead Cycle Co of Chicago, IL. In the 1970`s Standard Cycle Co of Chicago was selling Ranger brand bicycles; it appears that Art Lipski acquired the Ranger name. This image is from the 1911 Mead Cycle Co catalog; it`s page-16 illustrating the Ranger Roadster priced at $50.00 retail. Additional text & pictures pending. See the picture gallery.
